Siemens villa, valued at €27.5 million, set for auction on Thursday.

The historic Siemens villa, located on the picturesque shores of Lehnitzsee in Potsdam, will be going up for auction this Thursday. The villa, originally built in 1910 for an heir to a vast fortune, was commissioned by Carl Friedrich von Siemens, the youngest son of inventor and entrepreneur Werner von Siemens.

The villa, valued at around €27.5 million, was designed by architect Otto March in the style of an English country house. It boasts a H-shaped main building with modern facilities for the time, including a central vacuum system, its own power station, a telephone line, and a passenger lift. The estate also includes a boathouse and tennis courts.

After German reunification, the estate was formally returned to the von Siemens heirs, though they never made use of it. Since then, the villa has remained unaltered, with no significant renovation carried out. The current ownership of the villa is unclear.

The villa was confiscated by the Red Army after the Second World War and converted into a pulmonary sanatorium. It has not been used by the von Siemens heirs since its return after German reunification. The purchase price when the villa last changed hands in 2020 is unknown.

The auction proceedings will be held behind closed doors, with only the date of the auction having been made public. The state of the villa remains in its original condition, offering a unique opportunity for the new owner to restore this historic property to its former glory.

Interestingly, the title of "Villa der Versuchung" today belongs to Jasmin Herren, who won the first season of a popular reality show in 2025. Despite the originally planned prize of 250,000 euros, she took home only 9,199 euros due to expenses during the show. It's unclear if this villa will be her next home, but one thing is certain - the Siemens villa is a piece of history waiting for a new chapter to begin.
