Sikka has been appointed as the Chairman of AMFI, with Vishal Kapoor serving as Vice-chairman.
In a significant development for the Indian mutual fund industry, Sundeep Sikka, the Executive Director & CEO of Nippon Life India Asset Management, has been elected as Chairman of the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). Vishal Kapoor, the CEO of Bandhan AMC, has been elected as Vice Chairman.
The appointments were made at AMFI's 30th Annual General Meeting held on Thursday, marking a new chapter for the industry. Sundeep Sikka, who has been on the AMFI Board since 2009, will lead the industry body in its efforts to expand the reach of mutual funds across geographies and strengthen investor confidence.
Sikka intends to work closely with SEBI and policymakers to advance financial inclusion and ensure transparency and trust, aiming to bring mutual funds to more investors across the country. He has previously served as Chairman of AMFI from 2013 to 2015.
Vishal Kapoor, who has been on the AMFI Board since 2018 and has been serving as Chairman of the ARN Committee since 2020, will support Sikka in his role as Vice Chairman. Kapoor aims to enable first-time investors to confidently participate in India's growth story and enhance investor awareness at the grassroot level.
Kapoor also emphasised the importance of strengthening and expanding the reach of distributors and advisors to broaden investor participation across the country. He has been the CEO of Bandhan AMC since September 2025, and during this period, he was also elected as Vice Chairman of AMFI.
The mutual fund industry has seen significant growth, with the asset under management (AUM) crossing ₹75 lakh crore and over 5.6 crore investors. This growth reflects the increasing popularity of mutual funds as a investment option for Indians.
Both Sikka and Kapoor are committed to working towards simplifying access to mutual funds and ensuring that they are accessible to a wider audience. They aim to build on the success of the industry and continue to drive growth and financial inclusion in India.
