Single-person ticket sales for a casting event
In a bid to streamline and modernize public transport in Baden-Württemberg, several changes are on the horizon. Here's a breakdown of what passengers can expect.
From autumn 2025, ticket sales for rail transport in southern Baden-Württemberg will be handled by a single entity, Transdev Vertrieb. This transition is part of the overarching initiative of the state of Baden-Württemberg for sustainable and climate-friendly mobility, named "bwegt".
During the closure period, passengers can continue to use fare machines and digital sales channels. DB Vertrieb will deploy specially trained personnel at some locations to assist with ticket purchases. It's important to note that stationary advisory and sales points will remain closed for several weeks during the transition, but they will gradually reopen from November.
The sales agencies in Friedrichshafen-Hafen, Hechingen, Isny, Meckenbeuren, Mössingen, Rottenburg, and Stockach will continue to operate without interruption. For questions about Germany Ticket and intermodal tickets, passengers can contact the local transport associations.
Video Passenger Centers in Bad Saulgau, Bad Waldsee, Leutkirch, and Wangen will be dismantled in November. The Video Passenger Center in Nürtingen will close on September 19, 2025, and the dates for reopening are not yet fixed. The Video Passenger Center in Riedlingen will be replaced by the end of 2026, and a new one will open in Laupheim city by the end of 2027.
Bwegt passenger centers, video passenger centers, and agencies will be included under the bwegt design. This means that travelers will immediately recognize where they can buy their tickets for travel on bwegt trains. Ticket Guides are currently deployed in Albstadt, Tübingen, and Reutlingen, and are expected to be available in Ravensburg, Sigmaringen, and Friedrichshafen from early September.
The primary goal of bwegt is to make public passenger transport (PPT) easier for passengers. To achieve this, it works with regional railway companies and other partners to continuously improve local and regional transport for passengers, aiming to double the number of passengers in PPT by 2030.
For local and regional transport, passengers can book trips with a swipe using the state-owned bwegt app with the digital CiCoBW system (Check-In-Check-Out Baden-Württemberg). Passengers will benefit in the long run from uniform bwegt fare machines and sales points providing better clarity.
The ministry of transport can be contacted via email or a contact form on their website. The telephone customer service number of Deutsche Bahn (030 2970) remains available for passengers. Ministerial Director Berthold Frieß stated that due to dismantling and renovation measures, there will be closing times during the transition.
In summary, while there will be some changes and temporary closures, the aim is to improve the overall experience for passengers in Baden-Württemberg's public transport system. Passengers are advised to stay updated and plan their journeys accordingly.
