Skoda's Octavia model unveils its future direction with an innovative electric estate concept design

Skoda has unveiled its latest concept car, the Vision O, which offers a tantalising glimpse into the electric future of the Octavia estate. This innovative vehicle showcases Skoda's new design language and reaffirms the company's commitment to the estate car in the electric era.

The Vision O boasts a spacious boot, offering more than 650 litres of space, a significant increase from the current Octavia Estate's 640 litres. With the seats folded, the Vision O can accommodate more than 1700 litres of cargo, making it an ideal choice for those needing ample storage space.

Aerodynamics have been a major focus in the Vision O's design. Features such as retractable door handles, integrated cooling vents on the bonnet, and sculpted side channels have been implemented to maximise range and efficiency. The rear of the Vision O showcases a new T-shaped LED light design, adding a touch of modern elegance.

The interior of the Vision O is equally impressive. The centre panel features a minimalist design with a dial button offering haptic feedback, and the steering wheel retains a number of physical controls for a familiar feel. A large vertical touchscreen dominates the dashboard, providing easy access to various functions.

The Vision O's exterior and interior design language is described as the next generation of Skoda's 'Modern Solid' theme. The model also features a 1.2m-wide 'Horizon Display' digital screen spanning the entire dashboard just below the windscreen, offering new HMI functions for both driver and passenger with the Horizon Display.

The Vision O was developed "from the inside out", with a focus on customers' needs. It will likely morph into the next-generation Octavia EV and use the SSP platform, similar to the Volkswagen ID Golf. The Vision O concept is believed to be built on a future platform of the Volkswagen Group.

However, Skoda has not provided any technical details, such as powertrain, battery size, or performance figures for the Vision O. The Vision O concept represents Skoda's electrified future, with a production vehicle expected in the next decade. The Vision O is longer than the current Octavia Estate, measuring 4850mm, and sits below the Superb in length (4902mm).

The Vision O previews the design and features of the next-generation Octavia, an estate car model by Skoda. This innovative concept vehicle, with its focus on aerodynamics, spacious interior, and advanced technology, signals Skoda's commitment to electric vehicles and the estate car segment. The Vision O is part of Skoda's electrified future, and we eagerly await its production version in the coming years.
