Solar energy venture in Northern Colorado, encompassing the largest scale, commences functioning in the area close to Severance.

ContourGlobal, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, has made a significant stride in the United States with the commencement of operations at Black Hollow Sun I, a 185-megawatt solar facility located near Fort Collins, Colorado. This marks ContourGlobal's first renewable facility in the country.

The solar complex, set to become the largest photovoltaic installation in Northern Colorado once complete in 2026, is producing clean power that strengthens the resilience of the region's electric grid. The electricity generated by Black Hollow Sun I is being supplied to Platte River Power Authority, powering approximately 73,000 local households.

The project has created around 450 direct jobs and 250 indirect jobs during construction. In addition, it is expected that the construction of Black Hollow Sun II will provide more opportunities for local contractors, suppliers, and service providers.

The town of Severance, situated 16 miles from Fort Collins, has strengthened its ties with ContourGlobal. The company's commitment to community engagement is evident through its sponsorship of the Severance Days Festival.

Black Hollow Sun I will offset nearly 450,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually, a significant contribution towards reducing carbon footprint. The clean power produced by the facility supports Platte River Power Authority's commitment to reliable, low-carbon energy.

American-manufactured solar modules from Qcells are being used in the Black Hollow Sun I project, further emphasising ContourGlobal's dedication to supporting local industries. This strategic move underscores ContourGlobal's U.S. strategy of expanding renewable energy investments.
