In a groundbreaking development, Sunpower Yachts International has introduced the Solar-eJET, a solar-powered tender designed for yacht owners with solar-equipped vessels. This innovative craft aims to extend the energy independence of yachts to their auxiliary craft, such as tenders.

The Solar-eJET tender is not just a step towards cleaner marine technology; it's a leap. Powered directly by solar energy and featuring a jet propulsion system, this tender offers enhanced safety for swimmers and allows operation in shallow waters. It is designated for inshore coastal use under Design Category C.

The tender, presented by Sunpower Yachts International, boasts a dry weight of 231 pounds (excluding the battery) and is rated for a maximum load of 930 pounds, with seating for up to five passengers. Its hull, a deep "V" design constructed from marine-grade aluminium, ensures durability and performance.

The tender's propulsion is powered by a 10 kWh lithium battery pack and a 22 kW electric motor, equivalent to a 30 horsepower conventional engine. The advanced jet drive is liquid-cooled for consistent performance under load.

One of the key features of the Solar-eJET tender is its direct charging interface with the mothership. When stowed in its purpose-built bay on the yacht, a built-in connection point allows it to be plugged into its solar charging port. This means no more reliance on fuel cans or marina power for the tender.

The Solar-eJET tender's battery is continuously topped up from the yacht's solar array, ensuring it is always ready for use. Standard equipment includes a welded aluminium deck, integrated cushioned seating, waterproof LED navigation lights, an anchor box, grab rails, and a bow locker.

Grant from Sunpower Yachts stated that the Solar-eJET tender marks a turning point in clean marine innovation. This sentiment is echoed by the unveiling of Ferrari's "Hypersail yacht," the first of its size in the world to be entirely energy self-sufficient.

The Solar-eJET tender is not just a companion to the Sunpower fleet; it's a part of a consistent energy ecosystem, extending from the main vessel to the tender. This development is set to redefine the future of yachting, making it more sustainable and efficient.
