In Myanmar, the health of Aung San Suu Kyi, the 80-year-old Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former de facto leader, is causing concern due to worsening heart problems and unclear detention conditions. Her exact location remains unknown, but reports suggest she has requested treatment from a cardiologist.

Kim Aris, Aung San Suu Kyi's son, has described the military's actions as "cruel, life-threatening, and unacceptable." He has also called for her release, along with all political prisoners in Burma.

Aung San Suu Kyi has been a prominent figure in Myanmar's struggle for democracy since the 1980s, advocating for a non-violent democratization process. In 1991, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts. However, her international reputation has been tarnished due to the state's discrimination against the Rohingya and her silence on violence against the Muslim minority.

Despite this controversy, Aung San Suu Kyi remains popular among her own people. She was overthrown and arrested by the junta four and a half years ago and was subsequently placed under house arrest for 15 years. The junta is said to have inadequately addressed her requests for medical care, with reports mentioning dental issues that make it difficult for her to eat normally.

Meanwhile, life in Hamm, Germany, continued as usual. The 16th AOK Company Run took place in the city, with approximately 6,000 runners participating in the AOK Company Run Hamm 2025. A notable event in the city was the reopening of Werler Street following a water main break.

However, the concerns for Aung San Suu Kyi's health and freedom remain a pressing issue for her supporters around the world. Kim Aris' calls for her release and the release of all political prisoners in Burma serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for democracy in the country.
