Spending Three Days in Osnabrück, the Capital City of the Given State
Lower Saxony Day Festival in Osnabrück Hailed a Success
Osnabrück, Germany, played host to the three-day Lower Saxony Day festival from August 31 to September 2, 2025. The event, organised by Marketing Osnabrück GmbH on behalf of the city, filled the city with music, encounters, culture, and a volunteer spirit.
The festival attracted around 500,000 visitors from various regions, including North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands. The Lower Saxony Day was an invitation for people to return to Osnabrück, according to Mayor Katharina Pötter. Personal conversations, curious questions, and a lot of enthusiasm were common during the festival.
Open-air church services were part of the festival program, while the sports mile attracted over 2,500 active participants. Over 70 hours of stage program entertained the crowd, and around 1,500 participants marched through the streets during the parade of diversity.
Lower Saxony's Interior Minister, Daniela Behrens, praised the organization of the festival and commended the peaceful atmosphere, great commitment of volunteers, and unifying power of such a state festival. Mayor Pötter expressed gratitude for the event and highlighted that Osnabrück was presented as a city of peace, a city of science, and a place worth living in the middle of nature.
Alexander Illenseer, the Managing Director of Marketing Osnabrück GmbH, expressed that the success of the festival was a result of weeks of preparation, countless conversations, great team spirit, and a lot of passion. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the festival, big or small.
Osnabrück offered a coordinated security and traffic concept, awareness teams, gender-neutral toilets, and a retreat room at the cathedral to ensure comfort for all attendees. The festival left a warm and committed impression, with attendees expressing their desire to return in the future.
