Sports Section of the New York Times for September 6, 2025: Suggestions and Solutions for Crosswords
The New York Times has recently introduced a fresh and engaging word game called Connections: Sports Edition. This new addition to their games hub, which already includes popular puzzles like Mahjong, Sudoku, free crossword, and more, is associated with The Athletic, a New York Times property that provides sports coverage.
Each puzzle in Connections: Sports Edition features 16 words and these words are split into four categories. The objective of the game is to group four words that share something in common. Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier.
In today's edition (#348), the categories were related to tennis lingo, games of poker, New York QBs, and places visited by Joey Freshwater. One of the categories was the Poker Variants, Familiarly, with the solution being HOLD 'EM, HORSE, OMAHA, STUD. Another category was Teams Coached by Lane Kiffin, and the solution was MISSISSIPPI, RAIDERS, TENNESSEE, USC. The solution for the Giants QBs, Past and Present was MANNING, SIMMS, TITTLE, WILSON, and for the Tennis Statistics category, the solution was ACEs, DOUBLE FAULTS, UNFORCED ERRORS, WINNERS.
Interestingly, each group in Connections Sports Edition is color-coded with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Players get up to four mistakes before the game ends. It's important to note that there is only one correct answer for each group of four words in Connections: Sports Edition.
