Sports streaming giant Peacock secures rights to broadcast 'EA Sports Madden NFL Cast'
The world of football and video games is set to collide in an unprecedented way with the introduction of the Madden NFL Cast. This innovative broadcast will blend live game action with animated elements from the popular "Madden NFL" video-game series, transforming the way fans experience NFL games.
The Madden NFL Cast will air on Peacock, NBC's streaming platform, during the highly anticipated matchup between the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. (ET). The live stream will be produced by Steve Greenberg and directed by Geoff Butler.
The commentary team for the Madden NFL Cast is stacked with football and Madden NFL expertise. Chad Ochocinco, a six-time Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl wide receiver, will be joining Paul Burmeister, a renowned sports broadcaster, and Kurt Benkert, a former NFL quarterback, YouTuber, and Madden NFL expert.
The Madden NFL Cast promises to elevate football strategy, information, and IQ for viewers. It will leverage the NFL's Next Gen Stats and GeniusIQ, Genius Sports' next-generation data and AI platform, to provide an immersive viewing experience.
The Madden NFL Cast is not just a novelty. Eleven players on the Texans and Chiefs rosters have a Madden rating above 90, underscoring the game's relevance to the NFL. Kansas City stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have a rating of 99, making them two of only six players to begin this NFL season in the "Madden 99 Club." Houston tackle Laremy Tunsil has a rating of 95, and running back Joe Mixon has a rating of 93.
The Madden NFL Cast is more than just a game; it's a testament to the passion and dedication of professional Madden NFL players. Henry Leverette, the first player in Madden NFL Championship Series history to reach $1 million in career earnings, recently won the Ultimate Madden Bowl championship ring in February.
The Madden NFL Cast is a groundbreaking step in bringing fans closer to the game they love. Andrea Hopelain, general manager and senior vice president of publishing at EA Sports, expressed her excitement about this venture, stating that it merges the excitement of live NFL action with the immersive possibilities of augmented reality.
Steve Schroeder, NFL executive vice president of media distribution, shared similar sentiments, stating that the Madden NFL Cast is an opportunity to bring together the Madden game, Next Gen Stats platform, and NBC Sports' production to create an entirely new way to experience an NFL game on Peacock.
The Madden NFL Cast will air alongside the traditional telecast of the Texans-Chiefs game on NBC and Peacock and the Spanish-language telecast on Universo. This dual broadcast will ensure that fans have multiple ways to engage with the innovative Madden NFL Cast.
With the Madden NFL Cast, football and video games are no longer separate entities; they are merging to create a unique and exciting viewing experience for fans.
