Dr. Sucharu Ghosh Bids Farewell to EIOH Community

After a fruitful tenure at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH), Dr. Sucharu Ghosh is set to graduate from the Dental Public Health Residency Program this week. His departure from EIOH marks the end of an era filled with personal growth, research opportunities, and cherished memories.

Originally from a small town in India called Hooghly, Dr. Ghosh chose EIOH for its outstanding research opportunities, state-of-the-art technology, and world-class faculty members. Over the years, he has developed a deep affection for the community, including professors, administrators, assistants, and friends who became family at EIOH.

The best part of Rochester, according to Dr. Ghosh, is that it has everything to offer while being a small city. He particularly enjoys the high falls and Letchworth park, while considering Park Ave a great spot for partying and Highland park as a peaceful place to relax alone or with friends.

Dr. Ghosh's best memories of EIOH are the moments spent with friends. He attributes personal growth to the EIOH experience, where professors became guardians, colleagues became brothers and sisters, and they all contributed to his personal development.

In recognition of his dedication to volunteer work, Dr. Ghosh received the Outstanding Volunteer Award 2022 by American Red Cross, and he received an honorable mention at the AAPHD Leverett Graduate Student Merit Award 2022. He also passed the National Board of Public Health Examiners' Certified in Public Health Exam and the American Board of Dental Public Health's Written Exam.

Upon graduation, Dr. Ghosh will be starting the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of the Pacific. He is excited about this new chapter in his life but will miss the EIOH community greatly. As he embarks on this new journey, he carries with him the memories, friendships, and lessons learned at EIOH, forever grateful for the experiences that shaped his career and personal life.
