Squid Game Season 3 ends in a dramatic twist - altering the entire narrative
In the final episode of the hit Netflix series "Squid Game," fans were left in shock as Player 456 (Gi-hun) made the ultimate sacrifice. However, it seems that there might have been an alternate ending where Gi-hun survived the games twice.
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter that this alternate ending was in the pipeline. Dong-hyuk's vision for "Squid Game" took unexpected turns during the script writing process, and he decided to change Gi-hun's fate to deliver a powerful and impactful message to the world.
Initially, Dong-hyuk's original idea was for Gi-hun to witness the American recruiter woman. The Frontman, in a surprising turn of events, traveled overseas and spotted the American recruiter in a quiet LA alleyway. The actress who played the American recruiter cameo in the final episode of Squid Game is Annie Hurley, and there was much speculation about her character's significance.
The finale of "Squid Game" was released on Netflix last month, and the official ending follows this line of thought. Gi-hun sacrificed himself for Player 222's newborn child in the final game, delivering a poignant message about the sacrifices needed for a better future.
Despite the series' official ending, rumors of a US version of "Squid Game" are circulating. Netflix has not confirmed or denied these rumors, and no mention was made about a US iteration being confirmed or denied in the latest statement by Netflix or Dong-hyuk.
The creator believes that the world needs to make sacrifices for a better future for the next generation. Gi-hun's finale speech was intentionally open-ended, suggesting that humanity cannot be summed up in one neat sentence. The final ending of "Squid Game" reflects a world that seems to be headed for the worst, but perhaps there is still hope for a brighter future.
