Stadt-Gießen and TNG Stadt-Netz GmbH team up for advancement of glass fiber development

In a significant move towards the digital future, TNG Stadtnetz GmbH and the City of Giessen have signed a joint declaration of intent to cooperate in the expansion of a modern fiber optic network. This initiative aims to contribute significantly to the digital future of the city, benefiting both its citizens and local economy.

TNG Sales Director Kilian Ortwein expressed his enthusiasm for the cooperation, stating that it marks a decisive step towards comprehensive, high-performance broadband coverage in Giessen. Giessen's Mayor, Frank-Tilo Becher, echoed this sentiment, asserting that expanding the modern infrastructure is a significant step towards the digital future of the city.

The expansion has already started in several city districts, with construction measures underway in Rödgen and set to begin in Kleinlinden soon. The districts of Lützellinden, Allendorf, Kleinlinden, Wieseck, Rödgen, and Petersweiher are expected to be connected in the near future. TNG plans to build a future-proof fiber optic network throughout Giessen, with full private initiative.

This expansion is expected to enhance Giessen's attractiveness as a residential and economic location, enabling digital participation for all citizens. House connections on private property will be created throughout the expansion area, ensuring quick availability of fiber optic connections for households.

The goal of the cooperation is to speed up and efficiently drive forward the fiber optic expansion in Giessen for the benefit of citizens and the local economy. With around 14,000 households having the opportunity to connect to TNG's high-performance fiber optic network, this cooperation aims to make Giessen a more connected and digital city.

The fiber optic network expansion is a testament to the commitment of both TNG and the City of Giessen towards a digital future, and it is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
