Statement from Seesen Police on March 17, 2020
In a series of unfortunate events, several traffic accidents have occurred recently, causing significant damage and resulting in criminal proceedings for some drivers.
On the A7 motorway, heading towards Kassel, a traffic accident took place around 12 PM. The incident involved a 59-year-old driver from Bockenem, who was significantly under the influence of alcohol, with a test result of over 1.8 per mille. The other vehicle was driven by a 19-year-old resident of Seesen, who ignored a Pkw coming from the right. The accident resulted in both vehicles leaving the highway at the Seesen exit.
The Rhüden's bike sustained damage, but no one was obviously injured. The Seesener was lightly injured, and his VW sustained significant damage. The Bockenem man fled with his also heavily damaged car on the B 243 towards Osterode but was later stopped by Seesen police officers. The total damage from this accident amounts to approximately 25,000 euros.
On a different day and at a different location, another accident occurred on Bockenemer Straße in Seesen. A hit-and-run incident involved a 44-year-old from Rhüden and a male hit-and-run suspect described as approximately 16 years old, with black hair, wearing a red pullover, and riding a yellow bike. The total damage from this accident amounts to approximately 15,000 euros.
In a separate incident, a 23-year-old from Münchehof is suspected of committing several fuel thefts at a gas station on the Harz expressway, using stolen license plates in one case. Several criminal proceedings have been initiated against the young suspect.
Meanwhile, in Oberviechtach, a driver was arrested due to multiple incidents under the influence of alcohol and caused damages amounting to around 25,000 euros. This involved a traffic accident where the driver was found absolutely unfit to drive after an alcohol test.
The passengers (17 and 18 years old) in the vehicle of the 19-year-old were among the lightly injured. The accident occurred at the Gänsepforte intersection on Hochstraße.
