In an event that unfolded on the evening of August 7th, a 18-year-old individual was apprehended by the police in Cologne, Germany, following a theft incident.

The victim of the crime, a 49-year-old visitor from Duisburg, had filed a report at a local police station, stating that his smartphone was stolen during a conversation on the station square. The theft occurred around 19:15.

An officer in charge forwarded a photo of the suspected thief to the video control room, who were able to quickly trace the course of the crime. The suspect, who could not prove a fixed residence within the federal territory, was described by the video control room employees.

The 18-year-old was located on Kurt-Hackenberg-Platz, where a patrol car was informed of his whereabouts. The arrest took place near Cologne Cathedral, with the support of the video control room.

The arrest was made in the evening, and the 18-year-old is expected to be brought before a judge. The search results do not provide the name of the officer who forwarded the photo of the thief to the video surveillance room.
