Strengthening DAX: RWE sees growth post-deal, while Deutsche Telekom faces strain

Strengthening DAX: RWE sees growth post-deal, while Deutsche Telekom faces strain

The German stock market saw a positive trend on Monday, with the MDAX rising by 1.48% to 30,455 points. The DAX, on the other hand, closed with a 0.89% gain at 23,807 points.

In the DAX, Commerzbank (WKN: CBK100) and Rheinmetall were among the best performers, gaining 3.1% and 2.7%, respectively. However, Deutsche Telekom (WKN: 555750) was the DAX's laggard, with a decline of 3.8%.

Zalando, the online fashion retailer, saw a 5% gain in its price, while Hensoldt, a defense company, gained 2.5%. Renk, another defense company, rose 4.1% in the MDAX on Monday, reflecting the continued good business prospects for the defense industry due to ongoing conflicts such as Ukraine or the Middle East.

RWE (WKN: 703712) is bringing its 25.1% stake in the grid operator Amprion into a newly founded joint venture. The company also completed a deal and received a thumbs up from JPMorgan.

In the MDAX, HelloFresh (WKN: A16140) led the losers with a decline of 1.8%. Co-founder Thomas Griesel of HelloFresh will step down from the board by the end of April 2026.

The Canadian bank RBC has a price target of 40 euros for Zalando's stock. Commerzbank's stock also saw gains in the leading index.

In the SDAX, the Kontron share rose by 3.9%. The company remains exempt from the import duties of the US government.

SpaceX is acquiring a multi-billion-dollar package of mobile frequencies from EchoStar, which could affect T-Mobile US's cooperation with SpaceX.

In France, the government under Prime Minister FranΓ§ois Bayrou would submit its resignation to President Emmanuel Macron if Bayrou's government loses a confidence vote in the National Assembly, as happened after a failed vote on a budget plan, leading to the resignation offer and the need for Macron to appoint a new prime minister amid a politically divided parliament.
