Student ensnared in digital swindle from online gaming platform
In the Omsk region of Russia, a significant amount of money has been stolen from residents over the past 24 hours. The exact figure stands at over 3.8 million rubles, and the identity of those responsible remains unknown.
The thefts were not limited to one incident. Police officers in the region received 10 reports of remote crimes in their last shift. Among the victims was a second-year student at OmGTU, who lost 43,860 rubles due to a scam involving the sale of an account in a tactical online game.
Another victim was a fourth-year student at the Nazalayevsky technical school. This student lost 19,000 rubles while paying for firewood online. However, it's important to note that the theft from the student at OmGTU was not related to this particular scam.
In an effort to trace the stolen funds, requests have been sent to banks to track the movement of the money. Meanwhile, the stolen firewood was found for sale online.
Interestingly, one of the reported crimes was not a remote one. The details surrounding this incident are currently unclear.
Police officers have interviewed the victims and initiated criminal cases in relation to the reported crimes. It is hoped that with further investigation, the perpetrators will be brought to justice and the stolen funds recovered.
This series of thefts serves as a reminder for everyone to be vigilant when conducting online transactions and to be cautious when dealing with unfamiliar individuals or websites.
