Windsor Regional Hospital Implements Visitor Restrictions Due to Ongoing Measles Outbreak

Visitors at Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) are being affected by new restrictions due to an ongoing measles outbreak. The hospital is taking precautions to ensure the safety of its patients and staff, particularly for individuals who have been exposed to measles.

The hospital is reminding families to ensure their measles immunizations are up to date. If you have been exposed to measles and have an appointment at WRH, it is crucial to call ahead to allow for proper precautions to be taken.

Measles is a highly contagious virus that can lead to serious health complications, particularly for young children and people with compromised immune systems. The complications are severe, and they are of significant concern for those with upcoming hospital appointments at WRH.

In case of an emergency and suspected measles exposure, dial the same number (519-254-5577) and speak to the Emergency Department at WRH. The emergency department is equipped to handle cases of suspected measles exposure.

The hospital is requesting that individuals take precautions if they have been exposed to measles. Visitor restrictions are currently limiting the number of visitors per family at WRH. No visitors under the age of 16 are allowed at the hospital, and only two visitors are allowed per family.

These measures are being overseen by the Ontario Ministry of Health, with the current visitor restrictions in place from August 28, 2025, to September 11, 2025. The hospital is working closely with the Ministry to ensure the safety of its patients and staff.
