Stuttgart Incident: Post-Crash Vehicle Combustion Reported
On the evening of July 27, 2025, a traffic accident occurred on the federal highway 8 near Ludwigsburg. The incident involved a Mercedes C-Class and an Opel vehicle.
At approximately 11:30 PM, the Mercedes, while overtaking an Opel driven by a 61-year-old individual, skidded across the road due to heavy rain and a wet surface. The Mercedes collided with guardrails multiple times, hit the Opel Zafira, and finally came to a stop at the left guardrail.
Fortunately, the Mercedes driver, aged 33, remained unharmed. However, the 61-year-old Opel driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital by the rescue service.
Fire departments from Sindelfingen and Böblingen arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished a fire that had started in the engine compartment of the Mercedes. The extent of damage to the vehicles involved in the accident is not yet known. The estimated damage to the guardrails is around 23,000 euros.
The A8 had to be partially closed for the duration of the accident investigation. The traffic accident is currently under investigation, and no further information about the investigation is available at this time.
