Successful Participants of the South Asia Economic Integration Summit Competition

The Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism hosted a thought-provoking journalism summit titled "Benefits of South Asia Economic Integration" from February 24 to February 27 at the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai. More than 60 journalists from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal attended the summit, which focused on discussions about economic and business integration in the South Asia region.

At the conclusion of the summit, a contest was announced for attendees to honour their coverage inspired by the topics discussed. The best piece to cover the summit was also awarded an additional $500.

The first place in the contest was won by Robert Antony from Virakesari News Paper in Sri Lanka with his article titled "Economic Integration Is Key to Alleviating Poverty, Unemployment, and Tensions in The SAARC Region". Syeda Masooma from Pakistan Today finished in second place with her article titled "People, not politicians, are the key to Indo-Pak economic integration". Zulfiqar Ali Khan from Pamir Times secured third place with his article titled "Gilgit-Baltistan at the Crossroad of CPEC".

The first, second, and third place winners of the contest received $1000, $750, and $500, respectively. In addition, Sujit John from The Times of India won the award for the Top summit coverage with his article titled "Pakistanis and other South Asians are like you and I. And we can do much together."

This competition aimed to recognise the significant contributions of journalists in fostering understanding and promoting the benefits of economic integration in the South Asia region. The winners' articles demonstrated a deep understanding of the issues at hand and offered insightful perspectives on the potential benefits of economic integration for the region.
