Supermarket roof cave-in leaves three hurt

In a shocking incident, parts of the roof of a supermarket in Lauchringen, near the city of Waldshut-Tiengen on the Swiss border, collapsed on Saturday afternoon. The incident, which occurred around 5:40 PM, left three people injured, including one seriously injured woman, and caused significant damage to the building.

According to the latest reports, the injured women are customers of the market and their ages are 20, 52, and 57 years old. Previously, the police had spoken of four injured people, but it appears that one individual was able to escape without serious harm.

The safety of customers, employees, and staff is the top priority for the Rewe Group, the owners of the supermarket. They have expressed sympathy to the injured and those present at the time of the accident, and are fully supporting the responsible authorities and emergency services in their investigation of the incident.

Upon the collapse, the rescue services were called to the supermarket. The building was evacuated, and the gas, water, and electricity supply has been cut off as a precaution. Unfortunately, parts of the market are now flooded.

The precise owner of the supermarket with the roof collapse remains unspecified in the provided information. However, Jacob Sulzer, who is owner and operator of a business in Lauchringen related to bakery, cafe, and bistro concepts, has not been confirmed as the owner of the supermarket in question.

At the time of the incident, 26 people were in the market - customers and staff. The building has been secured, but it is at risk of further collapse. The police cannot yet estimate the extent of the damage, but the partial collapse of the roof has caused significant damage to the structure.

Further information will be provided as soon as reliable findings are available. The cause of the collapse is still unknown and is being investigated further. The Rewe Group has emphasised that their primary concern is the wellbeing of those affected and the ongoing safety of their customers and staff.
