Suspects Arrested Following Cries for Aid from Victims - BPOLI MD Reports Successful Arrests
On Friday, August 29, 2025, at 6:45 PM, a shocking incident took place in Dessau's main station green space. A 37-year-old German man attacked a 20-year-old German woman and a 23-year-old Syrian man with a handsaw.
The male suspect, who was slightly injured on the thigh, threatened both victims during the attack. Thankfully, the victims were able to flee towards the main station and sought help from a nearby federal police patrol.
The officers quickly identified the suspect and subdued him after he dropped the saw upon being threatened with pepper spray. A breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of 1.28% for the suspect, indicating he was under the influence.
The suspect was taken to the nearby federal police station and an investigation has been opened for attempted dangerous bodily harm and threats against both victims. Further attack attempts were thwarted.
