Syrian regions adjacent to central cities experience bombardment from Israeli forces

In the aftermath of the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, tensions between Israel and Syria have escalated, with both nations engaging in a series of military operations.

Israeli forces have been active in the demilitarized zone of the Golan Heights, a region occupied by Israel on the Syrian plateau. The Israeli army has reportedly conducted several airstrikes in the country, including one in late August near Damascus, the Syrian capital, and another in early September that resulted in the capture of seven prisoners during an "infiltration" operation in southern Syria.

One such airstrike, carried out in the southeast of Homs, targeted a military unit of the Syrian Air Force. The attack caused strong explosions and significant material damage, but Israel did not confirm the operation. However, Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, stated that Israeli forces were operating "day and night" for the country's security.

The conflict between Israel and Syria, which began in 1948, has shown no signs of abating. The United States has attempted to mediate negotiations to reduce tensions, but the rise of a new Islamic power in Syria has added complexity to the situation.

Meanwhile, Iranian Ayatollah has called for a cut in relations with Israel. This call comes as Israel has carried out hundreds of attacks in Syria since the fall of former President al-Assad in December. Syrian state media has also reported previous bombings of Damascus by Israel.

As the situation in Syria continues to evolve, both Israel and Syria remain locked in a persistent conflict, with the potential for further escalation.
