Taoyuan Airport's MRT service experienced a disruption twice in a single day, last night being the second occurrence.
On the evening of yesterday, at 7:18pm, the Taoyuan Airport MRT experienced an electrical malfunction, causing a disruption in services that lasted for four minutes. This unfortunate incident follows another electrical malfunction that occurred at 11:23am the same day, marking the second time the airport MRT faced electrical defects within 24 hours.
The Taoyuan Airport MRT company, responsible for the operation of the MRT line, reported the disruption to Taoyuan Metro Corp. The malfunction caused the railway's system to trip a circuit breaker as an automatic safety measure. As a result, 19 trains were delayed, affecting around 2,000 travelers. Approximately 1,200 passengers were also impacted by the disruption in the morning.
In response to the inconvenience caused, the Taoyuan Airport MRT company has apologised to passengers and is offering delay certificates to those affected by the malfunctions. These certificates are available at all MRT stations, except Xingnan Station, and can also be obtained through the company's official website.
Operations resumed on the Taoyuan Airport MRT at 7:22pm, and the company is gradually adjusting train intervals to ensure smooth operations. The responsible party, the Taoyuan Metro Corporation, has stated that they will inspect the cause of the malfunction after operations for the day end.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining the integrity and reliability of the transportation infrastructure. The Taoyuan Airport MRT company encourages passengers to check their service status before travelling and to allow extra time for their journeys.
