Taylor Fritz Advances to US Open Quarterfinals

In a commanding display of tennis, fourth seed Taylor Fritz secured his place in the quarterfinals of the US Open 2025. The American defeated No. 21 Tomas Machac in straight sets (6-4, 6-3, 6-3).

Fritz was in top form during the match, conceding only 13 points on his serve and recording an impressive 14 aces. He also won 35 out of 39 points on his first serve, a testament to his strong serving game.

The match began with Fritz breaking Machac late in each of the first two sets. An early break in the third set was secured by a Machac double fault, giving Fritz a comfortable lead. Throughout the match, Fritz did not face a single break point, maintaining his focus and consistency.

This is Fritz's third consecutive year reaching the quarterfinals in Queens. Last summer, he reached the final of the US Open, where he lost to Jannik Sinner. His performance this year has been equally impressive, as he became the first American man to play for a Grand Slam title in 15 years.

Unfortunately, only one American has reached the fourth round in this year's US Open. As such, Fritz is currently the only American carrying the torch in this year's tournament. The last American to win a major was Andy Roddick 22 years ago at the US Open.

If Fritz wins his next match, he will face Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. Jan-Lennard Struff lost to Djokovic in the round before the quarterfinals, so Struff would not advance further. The next opponent for Fritz is the winner of Novak Djokovic/Jan-Lennard Struff.

Fritz's recent form and strong serving game make him a formidable opponent in the tournament. With his sights set on the title, Fritz will be looking to continue his impressive run and potentially bring a major title back to American tennis.
