Indian Cricket Team Expresses Dissatisfaction with Post-Training Meals

The Indian cricket team has expressed their discontent with the after-practice meals provided during their ongoing training sessions. On Tuesday, a few members of the team criticised the cold sandwich served after an intense training session, with specific mention of the lack of heat and the ingredients used.

According to BCCI sources, the team is not being provided with hot food after their training sessions, a departure from the usual arrangements during the ICC World Cup. In a reciprocal series, the host association is responsible for catering, and they always provide warm Indian dishes after a training session. However, in this instance, the after-practice food included customised sandwiches, fruits, and falafel.

The criticism did not seem to be related to a boycott or protest. Instead, it focused on the quality and type of food served, with the team member expressing concern about the nutrition provided after training being poor. The criticism was directed towards the cold sandwich served, not the entire menu.

In an optional training session on Tuesday, fast bowlers Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Axar Patel were rested. Some team members chose to have food in their hotel rooms, perhaps as a result of the dissatisfaction with the post-training meal.

For the International Cricket Council (ICC), the rule is the same for all countries regarding catering after a training session. However, in a reciprocal series, the host association is responsible for catering, and they always provide warm Indian dishes after a training session. The ICC does not provide warm food after lunch, according to a BCCI official.

The team member who made the statement did not specify their identity. The BCCI, however, has clarified that the criticism is not indicative of a boycott or protest. No explicit mention was made about the BCCI taking any immediate action regarding the food issue.

The Indian cricket team's warm meals during ICC World Cup training are typically provided by the team's official catering partner, often arranged in coordination with the BCCI. This arrangement appears to have been altered during the current training sessions, leading to the team's dissatisfaction with the post-training meals.
