Felix Auger-Aliassime Reaches US Open 2025 Semifinals

Felix Auger-Aliassime's resurgence in 2025 continued with a thrilling four-set victory over Alex de Minaur in the US Open 2025 quarterfinals. The Canadian player will now face Jannik Sinner in the semifinals on September 6.

The match, which lasted over four hours, saw Auger-Aliassime come from behind to win 4-6, 7(9)-6(7), 7-5,7(7)-6(4). Auger-Aliassime had a higher first serve percentage than de Minaur, with 64% compared to 44%. He also had 22 aces compared to de Minaur's 8.

Despite de Minaur's consistent performance in the latter stages of major tournaments, he has yet to break through to a semifinal. Auger-Aliassime, on the other hand, has shown his ability to perform under pressure, having previously reached the semifinals of the US Open in 2021.

In the match, Auger-Aliassime won a total of 153 points compared to de Minaur's 158. Both players had similar numbers of double faults, with Auger-Aliassime committing 11 and de Minaur committing 11. Auger-Aliassime also had 4 break points that he converted, while de Minaur had 4 out of 10.

Auger-Aliassime's victory marks his second major semifinal appearance, four years after his first at the US Open in 2021. His resurgence in 2025 has also seen him win titles in Adelaide and Montpellier and a standout third-round victory over third seed Alexander Zverev.

This impressive run has boosted Auger-Aliassime's PIF ATP Live Race To Turin ranking to 10th. With a semifinal berth in the US Open, he is poised to make a strong push for a spot in the ATP Finals.

Meanwhile, de Minaur's loss in the quarterfinals extends his Grand Slam quarterfinal drought to 0-6. Despite this setback, the Australian player has shown promise and will undoubtedly continue to be a force to reckon with in future tournaments.

In the other semifinal, Jannik Sinner will face Lorenzo Musetti. The winner of that match will face Auger-Aliassime in the final of the US Open 2025.
