This victory marks Anisimova's second win over a top-ranked player at the US Open this year. Earlier in the tournament, she defeated Ons Jabeur, the world number two.

Anisimova's next opponent will be either Naomi Osaka or Karolína Muchova in the semi-finals. This is the same stage where Anisimova played in the Wimbledon final in 2025, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka. However, the American has shown great resilience and determination, and she will be eager to continue her impressive run at the US Open.

Following her win over Sabalenka at Wimbledon, Anisimova became the youngest player to defeat the WTA's top two at grand slams in a season since Svetlana Kuznetsova in 2009. With her current form, Anisimova is certainly one to watch in the upcoming semi-finals.
