Naomi Osaka Advances to US Open Fourth Round

In a thrilling third-round match at the 2025 US Open, four-times Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka secured her place in the next round with a hard-fought victory over Daria Kasatkina. Osaka won the match with a score of 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.

The first set was a one-sided affair, with Osaka dominating the early stages, leading 3-0. The Russian player struggled with her delivery, committing eight double faults and only 25% of her first serves landing. This allowed Osaka to clinch the set in just 22 minutes with a 'bagel' score.

Kasatkina fought back in the second set, breaking Osaka's serve in the fourth game to take a 3-1 lead. The set was filled with breaks, and Kasatkina forced a decider. However, Osaka showed her resilience, saving a break point and going on to lead 5-4. Kasatkina held her serve to level the set at 5-5, but Osaka closed out the match in the next game to secure her place in the fourth round.

Osaka's opponent in the next round will be American third seed Coco Gauff. Gauff advanced to the fourth round after a straight-sets victory over her opponent.

Meanwhile, in a separate match, reigning champion Jannik Sinner advanced to the last 16 after a testing encounter with Canadian 27th seed Denis Shapovalov. Sinner dropped his first set of the tournament against Shapovalov, but came back strongly to win the match with a score of 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.

Sinner will next face Alexander Bublik in the US Open quarterfinals. Bublik overcame 14th seed Tommy Paul in their third-round match. However, Sinner has been in impressive form this season, reaching the final of all three Grand Slams and winning the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

It remains to be seen whether Osaka or Sinner will lift the US Open trophy this year. Federer is the last man to successfully defend the US Open, winning the title each year from 2004-08. But with both players in fine form, it promises to be an exciting tournament.
