Senator Ali Ndume Urges TEAAM Approach to End Boko Haram Atrocities in Borno

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has called for a comprehensive approach to end the persistent attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP in the region. In a statement, Senator Ndume commended the troops of Operation Hadin Kai and other security agencies for their sacrifices in making Borno safer and more peaceful.

However, he expressed his sympathies with the government and people of Borno, especially the families of the victims, following the recent attacks in Darajamal Community of Bama local government area and Monguno local government area. The attacks resulted in the loss of numerous lives, including those of soldiers and Immigration Officers, and the abduction of an unspecified number of women and girls.

Senator Ndume highlighted the need for the deployment of Technology, Equipment, Arms and Ammunition, Motivation (TEAAM) to effectively combat the insurgency. He also advocated for the establishment of Armed Community Defense to complement military efforts against Boko Haram.

The Senator did not specify which communities are currently under siege, but he mentioned that several communities in the North, South, and Central Senatorial Districts have been under attack in the past few months. He urged the federal government to prioritise the security, safety, and welfare of all Nigerians in this trying moment.

Senator Ndume's statement comes after the military reported the killing of over 30 Boko Haram attackers in the Darajamal attack. The attack on Darul Jamal village left 58 civilians and 5 soldiers dead.

It is important to note that Senator Ndume did not mention any new call for sympathy or prioritization of security, safety, and welfare of the people of Borno State. He also did not comment on the role of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), hunters, and vigilantes in the current situation.

The recent attacks in Borno State serve as a grim reminder of the ongoing conflict and the need for a concerted effort to bring an end to the violence and restore peace to the region. Senator Ndume's call for TEAAM and Armed Community Defense is a step in the right direction, and it is hoped that the federal government will heed his advice and take decisive action to protect the people of Borno and end the Boko Haram insurgency once and for all.
