Tesla Achieves One Million Global Deployments of Powerwall Units

The Powerwall, first introduced in 2015, has come a long way since its inception. The latest addition to the Powerwall family, the Powerwall 3, has more than doubled the output of its predecessor and is now powering homes and enhancing grid stability in 30 countries worldwide.
The Powerwall 3, designed for seamless integration with solar systems, can power most homes on its own and has become a shield against grid instability. It offers a pathway to energy independence for many customers, providing them with a reliable source of clean energy even during power outages.
The collective storage network of Powerwalls has proven to be a game-changer, not only for individual households but also for the broader energy grid. This network enhances grid stability, supports renewable energy integration, and has already generated millions in revenue for participating customers.
Moreover, Powerwalls have helped prevent over 21 million power outages from disrupting daily life. Collectively, they have helped generate and store 17.3 terawatt-hours (TWh) of clean solar energy, a significant contribution to the global renewable energy landscape.
Tesla's scaling efforts have enabled the company to shorten wait times and bring the Powerwall to more markets. The daily output of Powerwalls at Giga Nevada surged from 1,000 units in late 2024 to 1,500 units per day in early 2025, reflecting the growing demand for this innovative energy storage solution.
Thousands of Powerwall owners now contribute energy back to the grid during peak demand through Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), further enhancing grid stability and supporting the integration of renewable energy sources.
The Powerwall's journey began in Australia in 2015, and since then, the company has installed 600,000 Powerwalls in February 2024, 500,000 in early 2023, and 250,000 by late 2021. The design of the Powerwall 3 allows for stackability and expansion up to 40.5 kWh per household, ensuring it stays relevant and effective in meeting the growing energy needs of homes worldwide.
In five years, Tesla took the Powerwall from its first 100,000 installations to over one million, a testament to the company's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and its ability to adapt and scale to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.
