Tesla to Debut in India on July 15, 2023

Tesla, the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) major, is set to make its grand entry into India on July 15, 2023. The announcement, while not yet official, has been speculated by industry insiders.

The American automotive giant will establish its first showroom in the bustling city of Mumbai, specifically in the business district of Bandra Kurla Complex. Spanning approximately 4000 sq ft, the showroom will be company-owned and will feature a range of Tesla's models, not just one.

According to reports, Tesla may offer the Model 3 and Model Y as the first set of vehicles in India. Multiple sightings of test mules of these models have been reported in the country, hinting at their potential inclusion in the lineup. The entry of the Model Y, in addition to Model 3, is also expected.

Tesla is in the process of building its India team. Job openings in sales, customer service, operations, and Autopilot test driver positions have been advertised on Tesla's website and LinkedIn. Autopilot test driver positions are available not only in Mumbai but also in Delhi.

In line with its Direct-to-Customer retail model, Tesla will continue its operations in India under this model. However, the company is also looking for local partners for after-sales support, ensuring a seamless customer experience.

The India entry of Tesla is significant for both customers and the company. As the demand for EVs grows in India, Tesla's entry could potentially start with an entry-level offering, the Model 3. The company's foray into India is expected to include more than just the Model 3, offering a diverse range of electric vehicles to Indian consumers.

The exact details about the announcement of Tesla's operations in India are yet to be confirmed. While it's not confirmed, there are speculations that the announcement might be made by Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk.

Tesla's entry into India is a milestone in the country's EV market. With its commitment to sustainability and innovative technology, Tesla is poised to disrupt the Indian automotive industry and pave the way for a greener future.
