Disruptions on the Ulm-Stuttgart railway line, caused by an overhead line damage near Amstetten, have been fixed, it has been confirmed. The repairs were carried out by employees of Deutsche Bahn (DB) who were on-site, and no injuries were reported.

The overhead line damage was discovered on Tuesday, leading to disruptions in train operations. As a result, many passengers had Ulm Hauptbahnhof as their final stop due to the disruptions. However, regional traffic on the affected line is gradually resuming, with trains of line RE 5 from Friedrichshafen Stadt ending and starting in Ulm Hbf, and trains from Stuttgart ending and starting in Geislingen an der Steige.

Passengers heading towards Stuttgart can alternatively use the trains of the RE 200 up to Wendlingen am Neckar. Replacement traffic with two buses between Geislingen and Ulm in shuttle service has also been set up.

Deutsche Bahn regional traffic disruptions are expected to continue until Thursday, but train operations by Arverio are expected to resume in the evening, as previously announced. No new information was provided regarding potential compensation for affected passengers.

The initial disruption was reportedly caused by a World War II bomb, but this information was not officially confirmed. On Tuesday evening, the stretch near Stuttgart was temporarily closed due to the defusing of an aircraft bomb, which may have contributed to the disruptions.

DB InfraGO AG is assessing the damage as part of their infrastructure improvement efforts. The company has not yet released further details about the damage or the repairs carried out.

Passengers are advised to check the DB website or mobile app for the latest information on train schedules and any potential disruptions.
