On August 28, 2025, a tragic accident occurred on federal highway 76 near Dodauer Forest. The collision involved a tractor with a trailer and a Ford car, resulting in the closure of the federal highway.
Emergency services, including the police, fire departments, ambulance, and rescue helicopter, were swiftly dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, the young driver of the Ford car died at the scene due to the injuries sustained. The identity of the 17-year-old tractor driver who managed to escape the burning vehicle has not been publicly disclosed.
The driver of the tractor sustained minor injuries and was able to escape the burning vehicle on his own. The tractor caught fire following the collision and both vehicles were seized as evidence. A company was called to the scene to excavate contaminated soil next to the road due to a large amount of spilled fuel during the night.
The road maintenance department checked the condition of the road surface, and further investigations are being conducted by the police in Eutin. An expert was called to the scene in the evening to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Staff from the emergency psychological service were on hand to support first responders and emergency services. The federal highway 76 was closed in the area of the accident until Friday morning, and traffic was rerouted during this time. The road was reopened in both directions at around 8:00 AM after all measures were completed.
