The Canal-Fuhse region, located in the west of the city of Peine, has been the recipient of several development projects. On August 28, Dr. Ulrike Witt, the State Commissioner for Regional Development, along with MEP Bernd Lange, visited the region to learn about the progress of these projects.

The visit began at the town hall of Peine, where the First Mayor, Hans-Jürgen Tarrey, welcomed the delegation. The delegation was then guided through the region, with the local mayors, Dr. Reinhardt and Mr. Bartscht, presenting the public measures in the villages.

One of the projects visited was the conversion of a former stable into an old-age home in Schwicheldt. Another was the redesign of the village center in the same village. In Vöhrum, the new creation and redesign of the village park was showcased.

While no specific funding amounts were disclosed, it is known that around 3.8 million euros have been provided for the development measures in the Canal-Fuhse region. Since its inclusion in the Lower Saxony village development program in 2017, numerous private and public measures have been realized in the region.

The visit provided an opportunity to see the results of these development measures firsthand. For instance, in Vöhrum/Landwehr, the local mayor, "Herr Bartscht," presented the project he was involved in, the redevelopment of the village park.

The Canal-Fuhse region includes six villages: Berkum, Eixe, Röhrse, Rosenthal/Hofschwicheldt, Schwicheldt, and Vöhrum/Landwehr. The development of these villages was the focus of the visit, with no new information given about the Lower Saxony village development program or its timeline.

Dr. Reinhardt and Mr. Bartscht were photographed during the presentation, highlighting their commitment to the development of their respective villages. The visit concluded with a glimpse into the progress made in the Canal-Fuhse region, promising a brighter future for its six villages.
