"The Los Angeles exhibition 'BAKERU' has been prolonged to October 20th, extended due to its high demand among the public."

The "BAKERU: Transforming Spirits" exhibition, showcasing Japanese folk traditions from Tohoku, has been extended until October 20 due to its popularity. This exhibition, presented and organized by Japan House Los Angeles, is a collaborative effort between WOW, a preeminent Japanese creative art and visual design studio, and the Japanese American National Museum, among other distinguished partners.

The exhibition, hosted at Japan House Los Angeles, invites visitors to step into reimagined festival scenes using motion capture technology. It aims to enhance the understanding of regional cultures, particularly those from Tohoku, which place strong emphasis on the transformative power of nature.

The BAKERU exhibition was conceived and created after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, with the aim of providing broader access to local culture. It is sponsored by ANA (All Nippon Airways) and Panasonic. Art direction for the exhibition is provided by WOW, while curatorial support is provided by tateito-yokoito LLC. and Tohoku Standard.

In addition to the exhibition, new related programs have been introduced for the extended period. A gastronomy event, titled "Japanese Food Lab Presents Tohoku Izakaya Night," will take place on October 6 at Japan House Los Angeles' Salon, Level 5, for a fee of $65. A mask-making workshop is also part of the new programs, but no specific date has been provided.

To participate in the BAKERU Workshop selfie contest, visitors are invited to post a museum selfie on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter using the hashtags #JapanHouseLA and #BAKERU. The contest runs until October 20, and the winners will receive their own personal Bakeru mask.

Japan House Los Angeles, an innovative, worldwide project with three hubs in London, Los Angeles, and São Paulo, conceived by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, occupies two floors at Hollywood & Highland. It offers a place of new discovery that transcends physical and conceptual boundaries.

The BAKERU: Transforming Spirits exhibition is held at Japan House Los Angeles' Sub-Gallery, Level 2, and is open daily from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission to the exhibition is $5.

WOW is a creative studio innovating experiences in art and design, based in Tokyo, Sendai, London, and San Francisco. For more information about the exhibition and related programs, visit the Japan House Los Angeles website.
