The once vibrant cultural café, "Komm Du," transitions to a horror theater, causing a sense of unease
In the heart of Harburg, a new chapter is about to begin. Lars Henriks, from antikyno Media, has announced that the closure of the cultural café "Komm Du" at Buxtehuder Straße 13, corner Bleicherweg, marks the start of an exciting new venture.
After over a year of cultural work in Harburg, antikyno is leaving its previous location at Neue Straße 35a. The decision to move was significantly influenced by the consistently sold-out theater events, positive press coverage, and loyal regular audience of antikyno.
The former "Komm Du" premises will be taken over by a new entity, the Miskatonic Theater. This unique theater will be the world's only horror theater, with a capacity of 80 seats, significantly larger than the antikyno. The Miskatonic Theater is associated with the team around Lars Henriks of antikyno Media.
As part of the farewell program, antikyno is hosting two preview screenings of Cthulhoid indie films and a final theater performance in the intimate setting of the antikyno. The dates and prices for these events can be found on the antikyno's website.
Upon renovation, the Miskatonic Theater will have approximately 80 seats, an upgrade from the antikyno's 28 seats. The theater will also boast a proper stage for exclusive world premieres of stage adaptations of classic horror literature. The renovated decor and atmosphere will further support horror plays, making it a truly immersive experience for its audience.
Regular film events like the horror short film slam will continue at the Miskatonic Theater. Additionally, the theater will still be available for rent as a cinema.
Lars Henriks has confirmed that the Miskatonic Theater will write a new chapter for culture in Harburg. The renovation of the former Komm Du is currently underway, and the world's first horror theater is set to open its doors soon.
Despite the closure of "Komm Du", the cultural landscape of Harburg remains vibrant and promising, with the arrival of the Miskatonic Theater on the horizon. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development.
