Holy Cross Ice Hockey: A Strong Finish to the Season

After a somewhat rocky start, both the men's and women's ice hockey teams at Holy Cross have managed to turn their seasons around, showcasing impressive performances in the later stages of the 2024-2025 season.

The men's team, under the guidance of Head Coach TBD, clinched one of the five first-round byes into the quarterfinals, securing a 2nd place finish in Atlantic Hockey. They have been on a 7-game winning streak, which came to an end with a 5-1 loss to Bentley in the final game of the regular season. Nevertheless, the team has managed to clinch the 2nd seed for the playoffs and will host the first round over the March 8-10 weekend at the Hart Center.

The men's team also achieved a significant milestone by defeating Sacred Heart for a third straight conference sweep, contributing to their best finish in eight years with a record of 18-12-4. The team currently holds the home advantage in the quarterfinals, with matches scheduled from March 8th to 10th.

On the other hand, the women's team, led by Head Coach Lindsay Jackson and Assistant Coach Katie Devine, ended a challenging season on a positive note. After an 8-game losing streak, they managed to snap their losing streak and secured a win against Sacred Heart. Despite ending the season last in Hockey East, 11 points behind 9th place Merrimack, they will play Boston University in their play-in game, with the potential to face first-place Connecticut, ranked #11 in the country, in the quarterfinals if they manage to secure a win against BU.

The 2024-2025 season has been a good one for both Holy Cross Ice Hockey programs, with the men's team demonstrating a strong finish to the season and the women's team showing resilience and determination in overcoming their challenges.

Meanwhile, in the Hockey East, Connecticut has secured the regular-season championship and is looking to take the Hockey East title. Second-place Northeastern, the defending champion, are the favorites to meet Connecticut in the Hockey East Championship. The winner of the championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

As the playoffs approach, both Holy Cross Ice Hockey teams are looking to finish strong before the winter break. Fans are encouraged to attend the games and support their favourite teams as they strive for success in the post-season.
