The relentless endeavor by the Chinese president to eradicate corruption within the country's government and society.

In a significant development, Chinese President Xi Jinping is leading a genuine purge of the country's elites, as reported by various media outlets. The wide-ranging anti-corruption campaign, which has been a key focus of Xi's administration, is gaining momentum, with high-profile figures like Bo Xilai and Zhou Yongkang finding themselves under scrutiny.

Le Monde recently published an article discussing the lifestyle of the Chinese administration, emphasising Xi Jinping's insistence on the fight against corruption. The article suggests a call for a severe punishment against Bo Xilai, a former Politburo member who was once a close ally of Zhou Yongkang.

Last week, there were reports of an investigation into corruption that was about to be launched against Zhou Yongkang. However, the South China Morning Post could not confirm these reports. Despite expectations, Zhou Yongkang, the former powerful figure, only received a questioning in the anti-corruption campaign.

Interestingly, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, headed by one of Xi's close associates, is deeply involved in the purge. In a surprising turn of events, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has reportedly secured the cooperation of Zhou Yongkang, who is now retired.

The investigation against Zhou Yongkang for corruption in 2014 was conducted by the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Communist Party of China (KPC). However, the severity of the consequences he will face remains to be seen.

Xi Jinping, portrayed as a strong leader who was not expected to rise to power, is being hailed for his unwavering stance against corruption. The Chinese Communist Party is imposing a hardline stance on economic liberalization, indicating a shift towards a more austere political climate.

The Central government is also involved in the anti-corruption campaign, underscoring the seriousness with which Xi Jinping is tackling the issue. As the campaign continues, it remains to be seen how it will reshape the political landscape of China.
