Thieves exploited the keyless-start functionality in vehicles
Stolen Mercedes Benz GLC: Düsseldorf Resident's Car Vanishes Mysteriously
In an unusual turn of events, a Düsseldorf resident has found himself without his black Mercedes Benz GLC, license plate "D-FC 8010", after the vehicle disappeared from his driveway. The car, equipped with a "Keyless-Go" function, was last seen parked in the garage entrance of the owner's house around 6 pm on Monday.
Upon returning home around 11 pm, the 70-year-old owner discovered the car's absence. A quick check of his vehicle tracking app revealed that the car had been driven over 55 kilometers, raising concerns about the theft.
Investigations suggest that the thief(s) may have used specialized radio technology to intercept the signals of the original key. However, the name of the car's owner remains unknown to the public.
The Düsseldorf Police have advised vehicle owners with "Keyless-Go" functions to keep their keys in a metal box to make it harder for potential thieves to intercept the car's key signals. Witnesses are asked to contact Criminal Commissioner 33 of the Düsseldorf Police under the number 0211/870.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no further details about the stolen Mercedes Benz GLC have been made public. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
