Thieves make off with a 500-kilo safe from Mühlheim
In the early hours of Sunday, a significant incident took place on Dieselstraße in Mühlheim. A bakery break-in occurred, resulting in the theft of a heavy safe, weighing approximately 500 kilograms.
At around 20:35 on Sunday evening, a 48-year-old suspect was active, attempting to open the stolen safe. His activities caused a noticeable noise, which alerted an attentive witness. The witness promptly contacted the police, leading to a swift response.
Upon arrival at the forest stretch between Mühlheim and Lammerspiel, the police found the stolen safe deposited there. The police were able to trace the trail and apprehend the suspect.
The arrested man was taken to the police station for processing, and after completing police procedures and consulting with the public prosecutor's office, he was temporarily released.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident. The suspect's accomplice remains at large, and the police are seeking potential witnesses who may have observed the fleeing accomplice.
Anyone with information about the second suspect or the incident is asked to contact the burglary department at 069 8098-1234. The public is also being asked to come forward with any relevant information that could aid the investigation.
The stolen safe was left in the forest presumably to be opened at leisure by the thieves. The investigation into the bakery break-in and safe theft is ongoing, and the police are currently searching for clues about the second suspect.
