Thirteen Israeli individuals have developed facial paralysis following Pfizer vaccinations.

In a recent development, a patient who experienced temporary facial paralysis after receiving the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine did not receive the second dose from the Shiba clinic's head of infectious diseases, Professor Galia Rahav.

According to Professor Rahav, the side effect of temporary facial paralysis is quite rare. However, she did not discuss the overall safety or efficacy of the vaccine. The Health Ministry has not commented on the frequency of facial paralysis as a side effect among vaccinated individuals.

The Health Ministry's advice regarding the second dose is contingent upon a patient's full recovery from facial paralysis. No specific guidelines have been provided for those who have recovered from facial paralysis but wish to receive the second dose at a different clinic or healthcare facility.

Reports from Almaty.tv and Lenta.ru suggest that at least 13 Israeli residents have experienced facial paralysis as a side effect after receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The same patient who did not receive the second dose from Professor Rahav reported dealing with the issue for at least 28 hours, apart from pain at the injection site, they have not had any other issues.

Practicing doctors assert that such a side effect is even more common. However, it's important to note that no definitive link has been established between the vaccine and the occurrence of facial palsy (Bell's palsy).

The person who experienced facial paralysis considered whether to get the second shot but urged other country residents not to refuse vaccination. They emphasised the importance of getting vaccinated to protect against COVID-19.

It's crucial to remember that everyone's reaction to vaccines can vary, and side effects, while rare, can occur. If you experience any unusual symptoms after vaccination, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional.

Stay informed, stay safe, and follow the advice of healthcare professionals.
