Thousands Gathered on Rock Stage, with 73,000 Attendees Accounted For
Felsenbühne Festspiele 2023 in Rathen: A Successful Summer of Performances
The Felsenbühne Festspiele in Rathen, Germany, hosted a captivating summer of performances this year, attracting approximately 73,000 visitors. The unique-to-German open-air stages hub podium was used for the first time in new productions, adding a fresh dimension to the festivities.
Among the productions was Hugo von Hofmannsthal's "Jedermann," which joined the lineup at the Felsenbühne Festspiele 2023. The romantic opera "Der Freischütz" by Carl Maria von Weber, known for its enchanting melodies, was another highlight in the new staging at the Felsenbühne Rathen.
The festspiele featured a mix of classic and contemporary performances, including the children's play "Pettersson and Findus" and the family production "Peter Pan," which ran from mid-May to last Sunday. Leonard Bernstein's musical classic "West Side Story" also graced the stage, delighting audiences with its powerful music and dynamic storytelling.
The ensembles of Landesbühnen Sachsen were also part of the performances, adding a touch of local flavour to the productions. Wilhelm Hauff's fairy tale "Das kalte Herz" was another captivating addition to the lineup.
This year's festspiele included two premieres and four successful productions from last summer. Gojko Mitic, Tom Pauls, Jürgen Haase, and Tom Quaas were among the performers, bringing their talent and charisma to the stage.
The Felsenbühne Festspiele 2023 boasted a total of 76 performances, each one a testament to the passion and dedication of the performers and organisers. The complete program for summer 2024 will be published in October, promising another exciting season of performances at the Felsenbühne Rathen.
