In a series of developments, three men have been charged with rape-related offenses following an incident in Fishponds Park, Surbiton, south-west London. The Metropolitan Police made the arrests and are currently investigating the case.

On Thursday, August 21, at around 7.15am, an incident occurred in the popular park, which belongs to the city of Bristol, England. The victim of the alleged crime was a 17-year-old girl.

Vladas Rupeika, 35, of Epsom, was charged with rape. Nerijus Venckus, 36, of Surbiton, was charged with rape and assault by penetration. Peter Hoppe, 41, of Tolworth, was charged with oral rape. All three men appeared in court today: Rupeika at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court, Venckus and Hoppe at Croydon Magistrates' Court. All three have been remanded into custody.

A 24-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of sexual assault and administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence on Thursday, August 21, and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries. Additionally, a fourth man was arrested on suspicion of administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence but has been released on bail pending further investigations.

Local residents can expect to see an increase of patrols in the area as a result of the incident. The Metropolitan Police are urging anyone with any information to contact 101 quoting CAD1207/21AUG.

The victim and her family continue to be supported by specialist officers. No further details about the victim or the suspects have been released at this time.

Fishponds Park was under particularly intensive surveillance by authorities on August 21, 2021, due to security concerns or specific local incidents requiring heightened monitoring that day. The Metropolitan Police are appealing for witnesses and are urging anyone who may have been in the park around the time of the incident to come forward with any information they may have.
