Throngs of people remain awake throughout the night, anticipating the A80 practice session
In the heart of August 2025, Vietnam witnessed a remarkable display of patriotism and dedication as tens of thousands of citizens stayed awake through the night to witness the rehearsal for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (A80).
The spirit of the occasion was palpable as early as the evening of August 29, with crowds gathering at the end of Hung Vuong Street, braving the rain to catch a glimpse of the rehearsal. By 4 am on August 30, people were already lining up on Văn Cao Street, showing no signs of fatigue.
The enthusiasm was not limited to the general public. A large number of war veterans and their families gathered on Hàng Bài Street, eager to witness the historic event. Similarly, at the intersection of Hàng Bài - Tràng Tiền - Hàng Khay - Đinh Tiên Hoàng, a multitude of war veterans had gathered from the early hours, ready to pay tribute to the anniversary.
At Giáp Bát Ward, Hà Nội, Nguyễn Văn Cần, an 87-year-old resident, brought a portrait of President Hồ Chí Minh to the A80 rehearsal, symbolising the deep respect and admiration the nation holds for its founding father.
The dedication of the urban sanitation workers was also evident as they worked through the night to ensure cleanliness and order along the parade routes, ensuring a seamless and respectful atmosphere for the rehearsal.
The large crowds that gathered at the Cửa Nam area at 4.15am on August 30, braving the rain, were a testament to the nation's spirit of unity and pride. As the rehearsal commenced, the air was filled with a sense of national pride and anticipation for the grand A80 celebration that was to follow.
