Thuringian blood drive praises performance by Till Lindemann
In the heart of Thuringia, a blood donation revolution is underway. The "Blood Donation Rocks" campaign, spearheaded by the iconic Berlin shock rocker Till Lindemann, has seen a significant surge in blood donations.
According to data from insuedthueringen.de, the campaign has resulted in a remarkable increase of 57,819 blood donations in 2025, compared to 42,392 in the previous year. This surge equates to an additional 15,427 donors, demonstrating the impact of Till Lindemann's efforts.
The campaign, with the slogan "My Souvenirs for Your Blood", has captured the hearts of many, including 55-year-old plasma donor Dirk Eichler. Eichler, a convinced blood donor, recently won one of the collector's items up for grabs - the "blood microphone".
Dr. Christine GΓΌnther, the head physician of the Suhl blood donation service, expressed her gratitude towards Eichler, stating, "Without people like you, nothing works! Blood is not just a resource. It doesn't grow on trees - it comes from people. From people like you, who contribute to saving lives with your donation."
The collector's items, prepared by Till Lindemann, include two smashed acoustic guitars and a bright red microphone used during his 2023 solo tour. Each blood unit donated has the potential to save up to three lives, making every donation a priceless contribution.
Two out of three Germans have relied on blood or a derivative of it at least once in their lives, underscoring the importance of regular blood donations. In Thuringia, approximately 350 blood units are needed daily to ensure a steady supply for those in need.
Till Lindemann's latest campaign is not just about collecting rare memorabilia; it's about encouraging more people to donate blood and make a difference in the lives of others. The line "Blood / Let it in, let it out / Let it in, let it out / Let it in" from Till Lindemann's "Blood" song takes on a new meaning considering the importance of blood donations.
Despite extensive searches, no information could be found regarding which organization Till Lindemann supported during his "Blutspenden-Rocks" campaign in 2025. Regardless, the impact of his efforts is undeniable, as the surge in blood donations demonstrates.
Dirk Eichler, the lucky winner of the "blood microphone", sums it up best, "For me, it's a matter of course to help others with my blood - win or no win." His words echo the spirit of the campaign, reminding us all that every donation counts and can potentially save three lives.
