Bayern's New Lodging in Roth Marks a Compelling Beginning

"THW Bayern's fresh dwelling in Roth marks a promising beginning."

In the heart of Bavaria, the local THW association in Roth is constructing a new accommodation as part of the THW construction program 2020-2030. This modern building, scheduled for completion within a year, will serve as a meeting place, exercise location, and deployment base for volunteers.

The new THW building in Roth will provide more space for training and exercises for deployment forces, with around 900 square meters of usable space and a hall equipped with twelve parking spaces. The construction method, characterised by its serial and systematised nature, ensures a swift completion.

The building will be the home of 105 volunteers and will offer sufficient space for the technical unit with its three specialist groups. The THW vehicles and diverse materials will find ample room in the modern vehicle halls of the new buildings.

Integrated heat pumps and photovoltaic systems on buildings and halls aim to increase the energy independence of local associations in case of a blackout. This focus on energy efficiency, climate protection, and sustainability is a priority throughout the construction process.

The construction measure is being carried out jointly by BImA, the Bavarian North Building Directorate, the State Building Authority Nuremberg, and the THW. The Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BImA) is the client and owner of the new THW barracks.

The construction project is a significant pillar for strengthening civilian protection in Germany. The modernization of THW properties is seen as a necessary step to meet increased demands for modern accommodation and to make civil protection more deployable and resilient.

This construction initiative is not limited to Roth. Up to 200 modern, functional, and sustainable new buildings will be created nationwide for the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW). The local association Roth is one of up to 30 new THW properties with vehicle halls being constructed across Germany in a first step.

The changed security political situation in Europe and worldwide affects the strategic deployment of the THW. Modern, well-equipped THW buildings, such as the one being built in Roth, foster voluntary engagement in civil and disaster protection.

The BImA offers a wide range of affordable housing, primarily for federal employees. The construction program is a significant pillar for strengthening civilian protection in Germany, ensuring that our volunteers have the best possible resources to respond to emergencies and disasters effectively.
