The Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Tour has announced the formation of a new committee aimed at reevaluating the competition structure on the tour, including the regular season, postseason, and offseason. The committee, dubbed the Future Competition Committee, will be spearheaded by PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp and will include golfing legend Tiger Woods, sports executive Theo Epstein, and several professional golfers.

Tiger Woods, a co-founder of the new TGL and a partner in the creation of a new 9-hole course at Augusta National, will be a key player in this initiative. His collaboration with the PGA Tour is aimed at improving the overall golfing experience for players and fans alike.

Theo Epstein, known for his success in baseball, has been recruited for his track record and experience. He has previously wrestled with competitive issues in baseball, notably ending the 100+ year drought for the Chicago Cubs in 2016 and helping the Boston Red Sox break the Curse of the Bambino in 2004. Epstein is no longer affiliated with an MLB team but is a part-owner of Fenway Sports Group.

Joining Woods and Epstein on the committee are six professional golfers: Patrick Cantlay, Adam Scott, Camilo Villegas, Maverick McNealy, and Keith Mitchell. PGA Tour chairman Joe Gorder will also be part of the committee.

Greg Norman, CEO of LIV Golf, has expressed his interest in being involved alongside Tiger Woods in the committee's founding. However, as of now, the committee has not yet held its first meeting, according to Rolapp.

The committee's goal is to make changes "as soon as we can," with the PGA Tour seeking to learn from Epstein's experience in sports competition. The exact nature of these changes remains to be seen, but the PGA Tour aims to expand with the help of Tiger Woods and Theo Epstein, promising an exciting future for golf fans.

Brian Rolapp confirmed the creation of the committee on Wednesday, marking a significant step forward in the PGA Tour's mission to evolve and improve its competition structure.
