Time required for the renovation of the pedestrian area
The city of Pforzheim is gearing up for a summer festival on Saturday, June 30, as the halfway point of the pedestrian zone redesign project is reached.
Initially, excavation and demolition work, as well as utility work, will be carried out in the southern construction field. This means that the relocation of the work to the southern side of the pedestrian zone has been necessary, with the drive and rescue route for delivery traffic and emergencies being moved to the already completed northern area.
The large construction site summer festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the pedestrian zone and on the market square. The market square will be transformed into a children's paradise, complete with a bouncy castle, button machine, photo station, logistics park, Bungee Run, and a converted overseas container with slides, a climbing wall, and other play opportunities.
The summer festival will be officially opened at 1 p.m. by the first citizen, Dirk Büscher, and Horst Lenk, chairman of the Pforzheim Retail Association. The Antenne-1 Band, consisting of six professional musicians, will present a mix of hits, cover versions, and original compositions. More Mojo, an acoustic trio, will perform on the Antenne-1 stage at 11 a.m., followed by the Antenne-1 Band at 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Free Theater Artists Pforzheim will present "The Happiest Chicken in the World" tomorrow, June 28. Susann Würth plays the chicken Frida hatching from a giant egg.
In addition to the entertainment, numerous shops and catering establishments will offer attractive promotions and surprises for visitors. The new play offer on the Platz des 23. Februar, a converted overseas container, will be freely available to all children throughout the year in the future.
The areas around the trees have not yet been completed; this will be done after the paving is finished. The northern area between Leopoldplatz and Blumenstraße has been completed and reopened to pedestrians. The work in this construction field will be completed in August.
The pedestrian zone redesign project is a significant undertaking, and the summer festival is a great opportunity for the city and its residents to come together and celebrate the progress that has been made so far. So, mark your calendars and join in the festivities on June 30!
