The 2025 U.S. Open mixed doubles tournament was a resounding success, delivering on its promise of star-studded matches and high stakes. The USTA overhauled the tournament this year, increasing the prize money five-fold from last year's record of $200,000, with a total prize money of $1 million.

The revamped tournament attracted some of the biggest names in tennis, including Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, who successfully defended their 2024 title. Errani, a former world No. 5 in singles and French Open finalist, has a long and successful career in both doubles and singles. Vavassori, on the other hand, has earned a substantial portion of his career earnings from the U.S. Open mixed doubles tournament, with his $500,000 share from this year's prize check making up a significant portion of his $3 million in career earnings from men's doubles and singles tournaments.

The new rules for the 16-team tournament included "no ad" scoring and four-game sets, except for the final. This format created a fast-paced and exciting atmosphere, with fans packing into Arthur Ashe Stadium on a rainy weekday night to watch the matches. The atmosphere was "arguably more crazy almost than a singles match," according to spectators.

Several singles players, including Iga Świątek and Casper Ruud, expressed positive sentiments about the mixed doubles tournament experience. Świa
